Abby Smallwood, M Ed, LPCA
Abbra (Abby) Smallwood is a Clinical Research Associate working with Florida State University on the Safe Streets and Second Chances Initiative. She supervises, monitors, and supports the administration and progress of the initiative. Ms. Smallwood has worked as a counselor for many years with a variety of populations. Abby has done work with the homeless population, substance abuse and chemical dependence, traumatic brain injury, crisis stabilization, and severe and persistent mental illness. In all populations there has been a significant overlap in regard to involvement in the criminal justice system. Ms. Smallwood has worked in case management with the homeless population, often working to assist clients in working through barriers brought about by criminal activity and incarceration. Abby holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art with a minor in Psychology from Eastern Kentucky University and a Master of Education in Counseling and Art Therapy from the University of Louisville.
