Shaterra Brown, BSW
Shaterra Brown is a student intern on our South Carolina team. In this role, she interacts with 5-Key Model study participants as they leave prison and return home to the community. Brown brings more than six years experience empowering vulnerable populations through community and governmental programs. Currently, Brown works with the South Carolina Department of Corrections helping both youth and adults within the juvenile and adult criminal justice systems to prepare for successful community reentry. It is this work that ignited her passion for engaging with criminal justice system-involved populations. Brown is excited to conduct research with IJRD and contribute to expanding knowledge on innovative ways to reduce recidivism and reform correctional settings through evidence-based programming.
Brown holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Savannah State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Social Work at Winthrop University.
