Makenna Bernstein is a graduate assistant with the Institute for Justice Research and Development. She is currently a graduate student pursuing her MSW degree at the FSU College of Social Work. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree at FSU, completing her bachelor's degree internship as a housing case manager with The Kearney Center, a facility supporting people experiencing homelessness in Tallahassee, Florida. Before her internship, she volunteered as a receptionist with Project Response in Melbourne, Florida, a facility providing medical and case management services to people living with HIV/AIDS. "I have witnessed firsthand how important it is to ensure that our justice-involved adults are being treated with dignity and compassion. Being able to be that change is so important to me."
